“feeling sorry for roman POLANSKI” is a comic tragedy in one act that bends
our perceptions of those two genres. The play is reminiscent of the brutal
comedies of LAUREL & HARDY and The HONEYMOONERS. “feeling sorry for
roman POLANSKI”, echoes those classic comedies by featuring lower class
Americans struggling to laugh in a time of hardship. Our current television
sitcoms have shifted towards ironically sly humor where the situations have no
consequences in the lives of the characters; in “feeling sorry for roman
POLANSKI”, like the classic comedies, we see these characters fight against
